Calling in a Cardinal

Sometimes it’s nice to just sit in the backyard and call animals in. No need to don the ghillie suit, fill canteens, pack out gear etc. I use the Merlin app myself but any source of audio will do. I just play the calls and hope there’s one nearby. Cardinals come running if they are in earshot. It’s so cool! I’ve had friends discover the art of calling animals in as well now. I managed to call this one in the other day. He dive bombed me and finally lighted on the one broken dog ear on my fence. Perched up there head cocked slightly thinking “How in the world is this crazy dude making that sound?”. All the while a rabbit brazenly ran right up to me while sitting in my chair and sat right next to me. He sat right next to my hip for a good 2 or 3 minutes not even the slightest bit nervous just looking at me eye to eye. I imagined he was thinking the same thing as the cardinal!
